Neighbourhood Snapshot

Corktown is a neighbourhood pocket full of charm, bordered by Queen East, Front street, Parliament, and that well-known Queen Street bridge going over the Don River. Once an area that lacked amenities, the condo crowd took over the Corktown real estate, and in the last 10 years have seen grocery stores and must-have amenities move into the area. Corktown real estate is just steps to multiple streetcar routes and easy subway access, making this an easy spot to get in and out of.

What Makes It Cool

As one of Toronto’s oldest neighbourhoods, you can almost feel the history of the city radiating from the Corktown real estate and community. Once the underdog of Queen Street East, this neighbourhood changed significantly in just a short amount of time, going from a Mad Max-esque area in the ‘80s to a young and vibrant hot spot.

Might Not Be For You If...

If you’re looking for a fully established community to call home, give Corktown a few years–or get in now and beat the rush. While the neighbourhood has improved over the years, it’s still a bit rough around the edges.

Meet Your Neighbours

Young couples are dominating the condos of the Corktown real estate. White collar families and well off artists make up the demographic of the Victorian mews in the area.

Highlights

The Italian fare and great ambiance at Mangia & Bevi. You know those Toronto patios where you can have a great meal, enjoy a bottle of wine, and just fall back in love with the hidden gems of Toronto? This is one of them.

The Corktown Kitchen has simple and fresh ingredients and a menu focused on quality. This is the perfect little neighbourhood restaurant and is a great match for the young hip families that live in the area.

Morning Glory Café, because you can't have a young condo crowd and not have a killer brunch spot.
