Neighbourhood Snapshot

What was once a run-down part of the GTA is now filled with shops, cafes and family-friendly businesses that make living in Mimico great. Mimico-New Toronto is a completely walkable area where you can totally make it work sans-wheels. Living in Mimico gives you the convenience of living close to the streetcar lines and Mimico GO train station, ensuring you can be at Union Station in 10 minutes once you are on the train.

What Makes It Cool

This is not your Nona’s Etobicoke; although this area was once at risk of being called "run down", living in Mimico has changed. Like the awkward guy from high school that was charming and witty by his college years, Mimico now has it all.

Might Not Be For You If...

You think living in Mimico will get you a deal on a “fixer upper”. You’re about 10 years too late in this neighbourhood, and will have better luck in the east end.

Meet Your Neighbours

A lot of young couples and families are drawn to living in Mimico. They’ve been snatching up the baby boomers’ bungalows as they move out of the area, so now a neighbourhood once dotted with diners that basically served as daytime bars has is now a village of hip parents.

Highlights

The Albatross Pub serves as a shout out to the history of Mimico–plus it’s a great spot for schnitzel and pierogis!

Most waterfront parks and trails only have summer fun in store, but Colonel Samuel Smith Park is known for its skating trail. That’s right, a trail you can skate.

TICH serves up modern Indian cuisine with fresh décor and a cocktail list–this is not your average Indian restaurant. It consistently hits the list of must-eat spots for Indian fare in the area.
